Elouisa’s Story: Choosing Compassion Over Comfort
Sometimes, a single story can stop us in our tracks. Elouisa’s is one of those stories.
A resilient matriarch with quiet strength, Elouisa is the glue that holds her family together—even when the world around her falls apart. After devastating floods destroyed her heating system, her home became a cold, unwelcoming place, a daily reminder of everything she had lost. But when we showed up with temporary heaters, her focus wasn’t on herself.
Instead, she turned her attention to her neighbor. “She’s in the same situation,” she told us, her voice steady but urgent. “She needs help too.”
Elouisa didn’t just accept the heaters and move on. Instead, she became her neighbor’s advocate. She translated conversations to ensure nothing was lost in communication—not even the heartfelt prayer our team offered. Her selflessness sparked something bigger: by the end of the day, we had partnered with another ministry to create a plan that served not just Elouisa, but her neighbor too.
She could have retreated into her own pain, but Elouisa chose something greater: community, compassion, and hope.
Rebuilding More Than Homes
At Adventures Relief, this is what we stand for. We’re not just fixing broken homes; we’re rebuilding hearts. Elouisa’s story reminds us of a profound truth: in God’s Kingdom, there is no scarcity. When we step into the gap for one another, abundance flows, and love transforms.
Elouisa didn’t let her situation define her. She became part of the solution. And when we all choose to show up—when we lean into the hard work of loving our neighbors—amazing things happen.
Mission Update:
Rebuilding Lives: With our 2025 teams in action, we’ve begun rebuilding homes and have 171 families in our database waiting for help.
Volunteer Base Camp: Our new 3,000 sq. ft. tent is ready to house 150 volunteers each week, and over 1,700 volunteers have already signed up to serve this year.
How You Can Be Part of the Story
When we choose to show up for one another, the ripple effects are endless.
Pray: Lift up the families and volunteers in your prayers.
Give: Your support fuels this mission and helps us rebuild lives.
Go: Join us on the ground, and let your presence bring hope and transformation.
Let’s step into this work together. Elouisa’s story is a reminder that love in action is a force for change. Let’s keep that momentum going.
When we show up for each other, abundance flows, and lives are transformed.
Hurricane Helene's Devastation: We Need Your Help!
Hurricane Helene has devastated communities, leaving millions without power and some stranded like our World Race teams on Black Mountain. While immediate needs are critical, recovery will be long-term.
Adventures Relief, a ministry with 34 years of experience, is mobilizing resources. We'll connect you with impacted communities and ways to help. The situation is still very fluid so we'll post updates here as we are able.
Please pray for first responders and stranded communities like Black Mountain. Recovery will take years, but together, the body of Christ can rebuild.
